To me, it boils down to this. 216 wins. Way too low for a HOF pitcher. And he was never the most dominant pitcher in his era. Not even close. What makes him borderline are his post season numbers, which are phenomenal.

I think a lot of what he did was just great statistical luck in the playoffs.

216 is enough E, the number of wins from starting pitchers has and will continue to decrease, the days of 300 are certainly done with.
200 is enough in terms of wins, not really sure what his other overall numbers are but from what I saw and can remember of Curt he definitely does meet the criteria.

i mean wins are important to a degree but certainly not the end all be all. things like ERA, WHIP, K/BB ratio are all more important, among other things. i looked up his would be 162 game average for his career. basically, an average Curt Schilling season:

15-10 record

3.46 ERA

1.137 WHIP

4:1 K/BB ratio

221 innings

6 CG

1 SHO

now mind you this is the steroid era. based on regular season alone, id say the Hall of Very Good. where he crosses the line for me is with his postseason, which matches up favorably to anyone, ever. and its an extensive postseason resume.  not just a handful of games.

11-2 record

2.23 era

0.968 WHIP

4:1 K/BB ratio

133 innings

4 CG

2 SHO

so everything combined, regular season, (extensive) postseason, the accolades/awards, being an absolute workhorse ace on 2 different championship teams in both leagues....he's a HOFer IMO.

Lastly, Harold Baines is a HOFer, which completely fucked the game up. i think Schilling is bonafide anyway. but if we're gonna play that game, im not cool with Baines as a HOFer but Schilling not. no MLB fan should be.

Schilling is borderline. You know I take a strong stance on HOF candicacy, but I get why some people put him in. His post season shit is phenomenal.

But, now I know I am crossing sports here, is Edelman a HOFer? Very good regular season stats. Not HOF worthy. Phenomenal post season stats. To me, he is not a HOFer.

But at least we all agree on 1 thing...he is a cunt. LOL

and after saying that, i just looked up his regular season career, and its not even as good as i wouldve thought. Three 1k yard seasons, only 36 tds, never had more than 7 tds in a year. average of 50 receiving ypg for his career. he's nowhere near HOF based on regular season, so even a terrific postseason career isnt nearly enough.
