Montana getting destroyed and turning the ball over. Tom wouldve been saved by the refs both times. unnecessary roughness, leading with crown of helmet, landing with full body weight, late hit, the whole book. Defenders probably get ejected. turnovers erased, 15 yds, go on to score. Tom gets 15 yds for getting his shoulder grazed. another 15 yds for flopping. the different eras absolutely matter. quite literally a matter of erasing would be turnovers, more yardage, more opportunities, more scores. which leads to more wins, better record, and more favorable opportunities. we do not consider these things nearly enough. its football, but these 2 played completely different games. |

 the evidence speaks for itself. utterly irrefutable. Joe was the best of his era. Tom the best in his. but its apples to oranges. and i didn't even get into the differing treatment of the WRs, which obviously impacts the qbs. it is what it is. but we have to be honest. besides his obvious greatness, there's another reason Tom looks and plays like a 25 year old while pushing 50 years of age. |

When they were talking about how unprecedented the Old Man Bowl of Brady vs. Brees was last week, it was absolutely inexcusable that NO ONE mentioned it was because contact had been mostly taken out of the game, so of course QBs are going to age better. Not even going to judge it like they have it "easier" because defenses are more complex now, so it's difficult in a different way, but if you can't hit QBs anymore, old effective QBs are not going to be a rarity. |

Bill vs Tom. another day in age lazy hot take thats basically apples to oranges. a narrative that slowly built up over 20 years is now officially decided after 1 season of them being apart. because Tom hand picked his ideal situation in TB while Bill was stuck with Cam at qb and his whole D opting out of the season, while being in salary cap hell. but its decided. Tom was more important than Bill. when they beat the Rams 20-17 in the SB, it was all Tom. 13-3 in the SB. all Tom. all those times they completely dominated Peyton, and always neutralized AB and Leveon, all Tom.
