This is Idzik's first gig as a GM, and he and Rex are as tight as a GM and coach can get. I agree that you can get WR later, but I thought you needed a CB more than another safety.

I think he had a lot more influence with Tannenbaum, and about as much with Idzik as any other normal combo of GM and coach in the NFL, which is some. but good point about CB, it is a bigger need, but Pryor was rated higher on their board than any CB left. Again with Idzik in Seattle, they took Sherman in the 4th rd. They'll add a CB in the draft at some point, or maybe acquire one through trade later on. as of now, definitely a weak position.

Stevie Johnson traded to SF. good pick up. the only WR in the NFL to have success against Revis.

also, in CFB, are stats in bowl games included in a players given stats?? like if someone gets drafted and they show his stats and he had 6 TDs, and he had 2 TDs in his bowl game, is that 8 total TDs in the yr or are the 2 bowl game TDs already included in the 6 TDs??

1.) I don't know. I think teams are hesitant to use an early pick on a back who doesn't have breakaway speed because they feel like there are plenty of power runners out there, and they likely already have one on their team. In SF's case, their #1 back is just that, so perhaps they're looking to groom Hyde behind Gore and give him a few breathers to add some longevity while maintaining their power running style. There's also the fact that Mark Ingram was thought to be one of the best power RB prospects in a long time, and he's been a total bust. Maybe teams have lost faith in that type of player, or running backs in general. They haven't been giving great returns on high picks as of late (cough Trent Richardson cough). As for Hyde, maybe it's more than that, because Jeremy Hill is just as big of a bruiser, maybe bigger. Maybe it simply came down to SEC > B1G.

2.) Bowl and season stats are lumped together.

The Vikings are having a helluva draft. Barr is a stud, and they got Teddy as late as he could've gone. Just nabbed David Yankey in the 5th round. He was a unanimous all American and a part of the best o-line in the country last year. He could make an impact right away.

Not likely, as 2 of the first 3 RB's drafted are pure power backs. Same thing happened last year. The truth of the matter is when the "consensus #1" is also considered a late first/early second round player at his position, it is quite common to see one to three players taken ahead of him.

Last year, see Gio Bernard and LeVeon Bell before Eddie Lacy.

The Niners getting Hyde was a great pick. I can't believe he fell to them. Gore is old, and I'm not sure about the other players they have going forward. And they're going to need that power back to keep defenses honest. St. Louis' defense is stacked, Arizona's defense is still good. And of course Seattle's defense. Hyde will pay dividends going forward.
