The raps turned down a george westbrook leonard super team because okc wanted Siakam.

Probably a mistake, yeah?

Naw. Im glad that they didnt. 3 LA boys forced to play in toronto? Ill keep siakams upside and an organic rebuild. The raps arent a desperate franchise.

Russ' contract is so bad that okc is still in the luxury tax with pg13 gone. Hell no...ill take siakam.

Partially True, but the raps would have still have to accommodate 3 max salaries (Kawhi, Russ, George), so you'd have to jetison gasol ibaka and lowry in addition to flirting with moving powell and vanvleet, while losing siakam.

It's just not worth it over all. OKC before all of this had the worst payroll in the league for a reason...toronto would have been taking on a huge portion of their payroll fuck up for the pleasure of keeping Kawhi....and mortgaging their future while entering extreme salary cap limno by giving up their prized soon to be allstar and potential elite player. I easily say hell no to that. When those 3 arent enough to win half way thru the season, we'd have the same problem okc did.....zero wiggle room.

That style didnt win us a championship, nor has it won anyone a chip. Raps best to keep what they got and look to the future, even if it means a contend for now attitude, rather than pushing the chips back into the middle for the second year in a row. Can only gamble so much.

Maybe you guys dont rate Siakam as high, I dunno, to me his upward trajectory is sharp.

George Kawhi and Leonard isnt an automatic win...especially when you end up lacking the cap space needed to get the appropriate fill ins. Kawhi aint win up here alone, he had 3 fuckin big men and 2 guards who splashed 3's. Most of that wouldnt be there is they moved heaven and earth to make that big 3.

Miami seems the ideal fit for Russell. he'll just rot away in NY, Detroit, and i dont ultimately like the fit in Houston though they'd win a decent amount of games just on sheer talent. Plus rj would spontaneously combust if Russ was a Rocket.

So after OKC signed George who was determined to go to big market LA, and Toronto won the chip with pending free agent Kawhi, gambling high on a one and done....and the leagues small or not attractive markets suddenly have hope in these type of gambles....in one action, the rubber band snaps and shit is right back to square one. There is no long way of winning against these tides, and if the nba ever tried it would amount to slavery.

Ye. I don't know about how it worls out in the long run for the league. Are people going to eventually tire of watching pussy ass players force their way to super teams?

I once thought that they would....but its a diff gen now, they clamour for the shit. And the tv analysts before these dudes force the super teams....say how weak it will be blah blah (if they arent flat out all in favor, see Shannon Sharpe on Kawhi to the lakers)....but then after it happens they are willing to lick their ass everyday talk about how great they are, and still give them mvp all world mention while they are essentially get single or no covered every night, like Durant did with GS.

If the raps didnt just win...basketball would almost not even be a real sport to me anymore. I much prefer boxing and mma, true parity of opportunity there. Football is definitely better. Hockey too. But Basketball is still trending up.

Its what happens when 1 or 2 players can decide the course of a frnachise. In the NFL, yes, you need a QB, but there are 22 people on the field at the same time, not 10. Much harder to manipulate a franchise when you are 1 of 53, instead of 1 of 12.

Good question. My guess is, in part, it has to do with the salary structure. NHL is the ONLY professional league that does it right when it comes to the salary cap. There is a hard cap, and a hard floor, and it can not be manipulated. No luxury tax, so max deals, super max deals, mid level exceptions, salry cap hit vs salary, all that bullshit. What you make as a salary is your cap hit. Team can't spend above the cap, PERIOD.

So basketball just needs a hard cap. And since ball players get a lot more in endorsements, put an individual floor on what I player can make, so they cant team stack by taking pay cuts! The real problem is that the league office loves the superteam idea...because all they care about is money and ratings. The NBA is poisoned, itll never be cured.

Aye. It will (eventually) die a slow death.

So much for the whole idea that there wasnt any beef between james and chris. Lol.

Russ and James kind of deserve each other to be honest.

I like the move. Its shrewd. Russ at this point does everything better than Paul....with more durability....and Harden is his boy. Dem dudes gonna figure out how to ball....and theyll have a better team around then than russ had in okc.

and nobody should expect CP to take a single dribble for OKC. he's probably another 1st rd pick waiting to happen for OKC. they have like 34 of them in the next 5 years.
