But that excuse only flies for 3 teams. One of these other non-Kawhi options should be swooping in. Not only do you get an elite talent, but you keep that elite talent away from other contenders.

It looked that way to me, but who knows about the behind the scenes shit. Obviously landing Kawhi is the priority, but if you could paid up Boogie with AD and Lebron, you still have some money to flesh out the rest of your roster a little, vs with Kawhi, that will financially tie the Lakers hands.

It looked that way to me, but who knows about the behind the scenes shit. Obviously landing Kawhi is the priority, but if you could paid up Boogie with AD and Lebron, you still have some money to flesh out the rest of your roster a little, vs with Kawhi, that will financially tie the Lakers hands. Behind the scenes Boogie and AD loved playing together. In fact, NO not resigning Boogie was the final straw that pushed AD over the edge towards a trade because he wanted more time to put something together with Boogie and NO instead decided that Boogie was too big a gamble, opting for Randle instead....in addition to not resigning Rondo, who AD also loved playing with. AD could have both guys back in addition to a Lebron right now in LA, a Kuzma, and a host of other low priced vets, Melo, Iggy, Korver. But they have tunnel vision for Kawhi....and I dont see how that team works together with the amount of money that they'll take up in the cap. Maybe the Lakers are hoping Kawhi will go to LA on financial terms that allow them to do more, which is a stupid notion all together. _________________

Torontos only real asset is Siakam. They dont have a well spring of saved up draft picks. OKC also wanted to pawn off westbrook. Toronto basically declined because making that move forces them to lose Siakam and blow up their whole team because of cap limbo. Theyd have to trade gasol ibaka, probably lowry and whatever else just to get close to under it again. _________________
