I'm kind of confused as to why pitchers are getting so much plate against him. It was pretty clear as the season progressed last year that you could pitch him outside and he'd be more than willingly to fan on three in a row. Every time I see a clip of him crushing one this year, it's literally served on a platter. I understand that's where most big leaguers do their damage, but guys just haven't been pitching him smart from the ABs I've seen.

I forget who it was, but I was watching as a Pirates' pitcher had him 0-2 over the weekend. Next, he misses badly with a slider. But instead of going back to it or trying a fastball on outside corner, he comes back with belt high fastball on the inner half of the plate. You can't give him his pitch in that count. Either Puig has been a lot more patient at the plate or pitchers have forgotten that he isn't. I don't watch a lot of NL ball, so you tell me.

I wouldn't know Band, I haven't seen a single live swing from Puig this year, only highlights and stats. I heard on ESPN from one of the analysts that he allegedly is being more patient and not as wild with swinging at bad pitches, and when he does get a fat pitch he isn't missing it.
