lets just all agree the whole mid-range jump shot fiasco was ill-advised and forget all about it.

if you're that much into stats then respect Melo. PER says he's a top 6-7 player in the entire league. But you don't have him top 20?? doesn't add up.

PER doesn't account for defense. Where Melo lags behind greatly.

And yes, if you hit ~50% from midrange...you should take midrange shot. Hardly anyone does that though so it's generally a bad idea to take them.

I cant imagine Melo returning to the Knicks if he's deciding to opt out. At this point it'll be a pleasant surprise if he does return. I cant even be mad at him. The organization from top to bottom has been so inept. We had Ray Felton starting at PG and JR playing big minutes for crying out loud. who the fuck wants to be a part of that mess??

so he's not a great defender, but he's a huge PER guy, averages 27/8, shoots 45% from the field and like 40% from 3 and 80% from the FT line. But he's not top 20, to a huge stats guy such as yourself, because I guess every other guy in your top 20 is a great defender....your bullshitting.

i dont think it would be that horrible to do it, because melo game is going age nicely because he such a good shooter.

How many teams can even afford to pay Melo? Not many if any at all. A sign and trade is the only way it can be done but the Knicks ain't going to do that.

here is why i think its like 64 percent he stays.

1) phil is going to give in and offer him the max

2) he likes it in new york, the wife likes it. the fans are good to him.

the reasons he might leave

1) the team is horrible. not really with any clear way to get better.

i mean even upgrading ray felton wont be that easy.

2) chicago would be an elite team if he went there.

Dallas is looking like a good spot for Melo on the surface, but on the real that's 3 guys who need the ball in their hand to be at their best. Its a risk.

Great trade for the Knicks.

Also...The Pelicans probably have one of the 5 dumbest front offices in the game. Perhaps the dumbest. A first for Asik when the Rockets were dying to deal him to free up space? Insane.

in defense of Kidd, he was trying to steal the GM job from Billy King, and Billy is a terrible GM. Don't know that Kidd would be any better or not, but at least he saw the obvious and tried to do something about it.

Kidd didn't even do a great job with the crew he had during the regular season. He got in the playoffs by the skin of his teeth. He tried to strong arm the Nets into giving him more power as well as more money. Tried to fuck over King. Than he goes to the Bucks and takes Drew's job away. He is just a terrible person. He has a history of bad garbage.

They got the 6th seed and would've got the 5th if they didn't tank to avoid the Bulls in the first rd, they didn't exactly sneak into the playoffs. They won 44 games and made the 2nd rd. that was pretty much their ceiling all along despite idiots thinking they had some type of championship roster. The Bucks chose a younger coach with potential upside over someone who really was just a been there done that mundane coach who would've got fired after next year anyway. Kidd is an asshole in general, but I see no real outrage with this particular situation. Bucks made the right move IMO.
