Philip Rivers to retire. 1st ballot HOFer. straight G. didnt act like an entitled diva on draft night. went to shit hole SD and turned that franchise around ASAP.

:eusa_think: :eusa_think: First ballot? I think it’s debatable.

Was he better, at their absolute bests, than McNabb?

But i agree with his character and all that other shit. Just not sure if he is first ballot. Look at some of the guys that have been waiting. To me, its a dam shame John Lynch aint in yet. Was Rivers a better player than John Lynch? Without crowning the position of QB.

is that a serious question??

Rivers was given more weapons over the course of his career. And the year McNabb had the most weapons he had his best numbers. So one could argue I guess that if McNabb had what rivers had, they might have been equal so they are about even.

But I watched both men, McNabb more so. And weapons or no, Rivers was just better. More accurate. More game winning drives, more wins, more yards, more tds, all of that. I think McNabb had significantly less interceptions, but hey, less risk less reward. This comparison isnt even a close one in my estimation, it's clearly Rivers. And Rivers blows McNabb up on the character component.

Are we having the discussion of will he get in, deserve to get in based on who is already in, or are we talking, should he get in, if HOF's only stuck to the best of the best?

well we certainly not talking about your impossible Tom Brady standard.

and i dont think the NFL is nearly as easy and forgiving as say MLB and boxing. I don't have many issues with guys that are in. actually the opposite.

Rivers got the numbers. But was never really a winner to me. And one bug negative number he has in INTs.

McNabb was more of a winner to me, but he did have Andy Reid. He also wasn’t blowing games with careless picks all the time.

Like how many AFC west crowns does he got? It’s not like that division was ever super tough.

He will get in. I definitely think he should wait a while. But we dickride quarterbacks nowadays it’s disgusting.

As far as Ben outlasting him that aint really true, Ben has missed tons of games while Phillip rarely has. So i sill give him that i always props toughness. Like Brett favre, Eli and Rivers. All gunslingers who threw picks but Brett was the best for a while, undisputed. Eli and Rivers never were or really close to it.

Matt Ryan is also not a Hall of famer , yet at least.

Let us not forget Rivers also had this era's best rb (in my opinion) in Tomlinson.

Look man IMO rivers should get in but not first ballot... If Owens had to wait 2 yrs than rivers should wait a few yrs.
Rivers is way better than McNabb its no comparison....

He had Buffalo dead and buried and McNabb went out like a chump on the redskins...
Lost all those NFC titla games at home blew the Superbowl cuz he was tired, only reason they made the Superbowl was cuz McNabb didn't have to worry about Peyton,Brady and Ben

If mcnabb was on the chargers with Tomlinson and wat rivers had it would have been the same result make no mistake....
If anyone here is gonna tell McNabb was making the Superbowl on rivers teams than ya straight retarded

McNabb made the Superbowl in the weakass NFC... In the last 20 yrs its been like 13 different teams that made the Superbowl. In AFC u had 3 qbs make 17 SBS since 2001 so ya do the math

And now Brady is in NFC threatening to make it to a10th SB :heart :hearty-laugh: y-laugh:

17 SBS between Ben,Brady and Peyton 3 guys...
That's retarded and insane

Matt Ryan definitely aint no fuckin HOFer. Damn, Ice is good at this shit. Because in 4 years Matt Ryan will be at his 17th season, and at his current pace, his numbers will be damn near identical to phillip rivers, and even with that, id probably wouldnt give him the nod unless he won a superbowl in the meantime. Ya, well done. i'll digress and let someone carry this debate.

Ryan will definitely be a hofer wen he retires....
Hes sitting on almost 56000 yds and 350 tds right now and he turns 36 in June

Hes definitely getting in thats for sure...made the SUPERBOWL and won the MVP 2 things rivers didn't do.rivers, ben and eli all going to the hof and they never even sniffed a MVP so that has to mean something

Ryan probably will get traded its that time..but I feel like Ryan definitely has 4 good yrs left in him
Wen he retires most likely he'll have 70000 yds and 500 tds...but even if shit goes real bad and hes done in 2 yrs he'll have the same stats as rivers and eli probably even better

He hasn't declined enough to make me think that hes not gonna play another 4 yrs at least I just don't see it but I could be wrong....
Smith has a choice if he wants to go full on tank mode he deals Ryan and plays wilson or fields right away from day 1

But if hes smart he let's whichever qb he drafts sit all yr behind Ryan than he can trade him for a few picks next off season...I'm on record saying that Julio,Ryan, and Stafford all get traded this yr cuz that makes the most sense

Can't wait to see if it happens and where they go..Ryan fits in Frisco cuz of the shanahan connection.. Same with wentz for the colts with Reich...so we'll see wat happens I can't wait

yea, without getting into the numbers and resume right away, when i consider Ryan, i don't neccessarily see Ryan as a HOFer. of course i fully expect Ice to say "oh but he has an MVP and SB appearance something Rivers doesn't have so how you hype up Rivers but not Ryan?" which is maybe fair. but i see Ryans greatness as more so in one big splash as opposed to steady consistency over time. like the MVP and SB were both the same year.  Philip was consistent all his career.  a mediocre season here and there but always bounced back. just look how he finished his last season.

but also, we always like to try and slight the greats by saying oh Joe had Jerry, Tom had Bill and a weak division,  Rivers had LT and Gates etc. but we never talk about what other lesser regarded guys didnt have. much lesser luxuries.  guys like Ryan and Stafford never had great HCs, weak divisions, great Ds, great RBs etc. Detroit just recently had a streak of not having a 100 yd rusher in a game for like 4 straight seasons.  some don't understand how fucking astounding that is. combine that with what was usually a very bad D as well, along with an always strong division. Realistically, how many games did we expect Stafford to win with all of that??

Rodgers has always had a vengeful type of attitude and motivation. you got the Brady factor. the ass whipping from TB earlier in the year factor. the 1-4 in nfc title games factor. the "only has 1 SB" factor. the fresh off of last years nfc title game loss factor. no way in hell, at home, is he losing this game.

True, but you forget 1 thing with him...the choke factor, LOL. That said, Tampa needs to hang 30 to have a shot of winning this game, because Rodgers should tear up that shitty secondary.
