The league is set to discipline this old fucker and rightfully so. But telling him to sell the team he bought years ago for 12 million which is now worth about 600 million dollars some sort of punishment? The guy is 80 years old. He is a billionaire. Nothing they do can hurt this guy. Sure his image took another pounding. But its not like he is hurting. The fine they will give him is peanuts compared to his bank account. That slimy hoe bitch that recording him thinks she is doing major damage. Like if she is going to break his bank account or have his entire family turn on him. Bitch is stupid. I'm conflicted with this whole thing. One, Donald Sterling is a racist asshole, and nobody should defend him. BUT, if a man can't say crazy shit in the comfort of his own mansion, where can he? Losing a half a billion dollar basketball team because you said some crazy things to a gold digging whore secretly recording you, doesn't sit right with me either. In a perfect world, he'd be publicly shamed into selling. I really like how Silver handled it, and the whole banned for life thing, and max fine seems like as good a job as he could possibly do, so good for the new creepy looking commish. I'm a little uncomfortable with this second part where owners can make him sell the team. Setting a precedent where saying something disagreeable can get a man thrown out the league is dangerous ground. It's cut and dry in this case, but it's not always going to be. What if somebody said something anti-league, or anti-religious, where he might be right about his grievances, but it was deemed inappropriate? There would be a precedent now to throw him out of the league. Sometimes you got to protect speech you don't like, to protect all speech. It's a little more complicated than just kicking a racist out of the league.

For example, cheating on your wife, thats not extreme! You mentioned a religious opinion. That's not extreme either. If he says he doesn't like muslims. That's still just his opinion. If it does, hey, as a part of the league, he should have been conducting himself better, even if he said it privately and it slipped out to public domain, well that's his problem, his responsibility, and his bad luck. I see nothing wrong with owners having to walk on eggshells with their language and their actions, just like players generally have to, they are both representatives of the sport, and being part of the sport is a privilege, not a right. _________________

Btw, Owners can say they want him to sell the team, it doesn't mean he has to. He will go to an appeals process which can take up 2 years. By than we don't even know if the old man will be alive.
