The big difference here is that they were using video cams zoomed in on home plate with a monitor in the hallway off the dugout.

Teams have been stealing signs forever but this was on a different level.
Not to mention they supposedly did it in the big show.

I listened to Buck Showalter talk on it. He is level headed and knows baseball as well as anyone.
He said pitchers can tell and teams pay big money for people to read tendencies.
Some of those tendencies just don't change beyond a normal standard deviation.
When it happens over and over and over again, beyond a standard deviation, something is up.
Teams share info and call each other all the time trying to help their cause.

If its true, too many people know, and we will find out if the powers want to really know...
....or want us to know.

Seems like its just more cheating in sports...they tryin' mighty ha'd

Cora and the Red Sox just parted ways
They are leaving the players of out it because of the players union.
ITs some terrible shit though.
The players came up with the scheme and Hinch smashed monitors at one point.
He then just backed off.
The whole scandal explains a shit ton how they hit so well though.
.030-050 difference in batting average is like worse to best.
They knew when to lay off and when the heat was coming.
Like the steroid era, other players suffered from an unfair playing field.
But their records are still on the books.

I think the Red Sox would have kept Cora if they hadn't already had their own cheating issues.
The most terrible part? Its most likely the majority of the last few world series that winning teams were actively cheating....HOME FIELD advantage baby!!!

They all cheat. Some are better cheaters.
Yea, I'm not sweating it either.

Here's what I really think though. The punishments don't and rarely ever send the message to cut the shit out. Lifetime bans is a more appropriate punishment. For the franchises, I'd deny them any draft picks for 3 years. Cheating is no ok, but we have come just to expect it and it happens over and over again because the punishments are not a deterrent considering the money and rewards. I'd even fine the players a good % of their salary and the superstars can forfeit the whole check. No one there is going to starve and its a question of if the game has enough integrity to hold player to the rules.

This is 20x worse than anything Pete Rose ever did.

The scary part is that it was the entire team was in on it.
1919 Black Sox at least threw the game to cheat.
