I don't care about the statue per se. What I have a problem with is the convenient forgetful history of how Abe Lincoln was a POS who didn't give two fucks about black people. You would think that a person whom over 20,000 books have been written about him would have a more truthful history that is visible to the public eye.

Lincoln was a fence-sitting racist at best. He did not free any slaves. The slaves freed themselves with the help of real abolitionists like Frederick Douglas, Susan B. Anthony, and Elizabeth Cady. It was the aforementioned women who pressed Congress to pass an amendment to the Constitution to end slavery--not Abe Lincoln.

In fact, here is a quote from Lincoln's first Presidential inaugural address:

"I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so."

There are plenty more unflattering Lincoln quotes out there with regard to how he felt about enslaved black people and black people in general.


Furthermore, Lawmaker Thaddeus Stevens of the "Radical Republicans" did more to help free the slaves than Lincoln ever did.


Moreover, the Civil War was not fought because of slavery, it was fought over tariffs that the North was levying from the South for untold years. At that time, almost 80% of the revenue generated by the federal government came from tariffs levied against people who lived in the South. The secessionist movement in the South actually started decades before the Civil War and of course this revolved around tariffs.

Lincoln was also a hypocrite. In his inaugural address, he stated that no member of the Union can legally get out of the union. Interestingly enough, 12 years earlier when Lincoln was in Congress, he was in favor of secession with regard to the Mexican-American war. Lincoln wasn't opposed to secession if it served his political purpose (imagine that).

After the first states seceded, the Northern press expressed opposition to war with the South. Lincoln's advisors also opposed war with the South. Even Lincoln's top Army commander, General Winfield Scott was opposed to going to war with the South, as was Lincoln's Secretary of State.

Fort Sumter was strategically picked as the place for the Civil War to jump off because it was one of the few forts where Union soldiers remained. Had Lincoln purposely invade a Union state, it most certainly would've been a declaration of war. In a nutshell, Lincoln baited the troops at Ft. Sumter to incite an attack, and the rest is history.

Lincoln was a war monger, even though he believed it would be a short-lived war. A war that was started without the approval of Congress. 600,000 lives later proved him wrong. He is historically celebrated as one of our greatest presidents but if you really point that magnifying glass at his political life, it shows that he was in fact a horrible president who was responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths.

The Emancipation Proclamation didn't free a single slave. Not one. It was signed as a last-ditch effort by Lincoln to try and get southern slaves to rebel against the Union. Lincoln was only ever trying to save the union by any means necessary. The slavery angle was just a pawn on the chess board. Another seemingly little known fact about the war is that the Union was having a difficult time finding volunteers to fight in the war and that resulted in the first military draft. That didn't turn out so well.

Lincoln also imprisoned dissenters, political opposition, and journalists. He suspended habeas corpus and had cities burned. It's just too bad John Wilkes Booth didn't get to him a decade earlier.


As for Robert E. Lee, he is the one who is seen as the evildoer between the two. He was also first chosen by the Union Army to lead them against the South, but, of course Lee refused. Lincoln was the war monger...not Robert E. Lee. I can think of no greater racist in American history than Abraham Lincoln...and he was a war monger to boot. A genuine POS if there ever was one.
