There is a dude named Schmidt who studies insects. He has been around the world and developed a scale of pain for insects bite for instance, a fire ant is a 1 and a bullet ant is 4. The scale is from 1 to 4.

I saw this on the weather Chanel web page and it got me thinking about what insects I will be bit with this warm season.

I generally get in a nest of yellow jackets about once a year. The like the soft ground near creek bottom and build nest underground. I was surprised to see they only scored a 2. I think it may seem worse because you get 3 or 4 times and that is after hauling ass after being bitten by one. They fucking attack in a pack.

I have been bitten by 2 insects that scored a 3. A velvet ant and a paper wasp. That sting gets your whole undivided attention.

Velvet ants are flightless wasp. We call them cow killers in the south. They also have a reputation on not being able to be killed. You can step on them and stomp them and it will not kill them. It was damn near 40 years ago when I was stung and I still remember that blast. It probably ingrained an instinct into my kids.

Those stings hurt like a mother. I can't imagine a 4. A bullet ant from the amazon scores a 4. It is used as a rite of passage for the boys becoming a man. They make gloves with these ants and they sting over multiple time periods. I have seen white people do this ritual on national geographic and it fucks them up bad for a good 24 hours. The local kids doing the ritual can't make any emotions lol.

Yeah....fuck a bullet ant. I've seen some of that shit you're talking about with regard to bullet ants.
