After countless talks, the former Japanese PM and Putin decided on rather continue fighting over them, to agree to engage in joint business investment and ventures on said Islands.

Then Japan went with the west sanctions and sanctioned a bunch of russians and russian businesses over Ukraine.

Russia now has told Japan to go fuck themselves, that the joint business deal is null and void, and the disputed islands belong to Russia Japan is outraged

Apparently the united states has assembled the QUAD, a union of India, Japan, Australia, and the United States. Obviously an arrangement targeting China.

So after everything else Ive heard the Russians are hunkering down and are basically arming the Donbas'ians with weapons, both Russian and the ones from the other side that they confiscated. They also seem to be pushing those other areas to the southwest to become independent republics just like the 2 regions of the Donbas. I think at least part of motive is to make sure that the Ukrainians can't dam the water that feeds into Crimea again. Crimea had a real water emergency years after seceding because the Ukrainians dammed the canal that provides them water, a bitch move. Also if that happens, there will be a continuous ring of potential travel out of russia, into donbas, and then thru those areas and into crimea and back into Russia.

If I had the time I'd lay out what natural resources exist on the Donbas side to further theorize Russian motive. I saw a reporter in one of those regions showing off some of the tech they confiscated, some of it was from Canada, nobody asked me permission to use my tax money to give this shit to Nazi's, but its at least in the hands of anti Nazi's now.

Zelensky continues to insist on meeting with Putin. There are only 2 reasons I see for him wanting to meet Putin privately.

1. He's actually a double agent in the sense that he wanted to make peace with Russia and the Donbas a lot sooner in his administration and Uncle Sam and the Nazi's wouldn't let him, so he wants to sit with Vlad privately and air it out, as there is no way he can talk to Putin over a line and do this, he'd be dead within the hour.
