When I took that year and a half off work, I felt like I could never go back to the full time 9 to 5 gig. The laziness was upon me.

As soon as I got a job. It took 1 day to go right back into the unlazy get off your ass and go to work mode.
Some ppl are just fucking lazy and worthless.

You can thank the welfare state for that ushered in by our very own Lyndon B. Johnson. All these programs have done is make generational poverty worse. What we are doing right now with these "stimulus" programs is incentivizing poverty.

You're right. Honestly if I was the government, my methods would be considered quite draconian by todays standards but the welfare state is a perpetual toilet flush.

I'm teasing you. I used to be a water rat. Haven't been to a waterpark in I don't know how long. If I went to one now, I'd probably be accused of being a pedophile.

I really want to go white water rafting. I love those WHITE rapids.

Ya me and you dont see eye to eye on all the isms for sure....but we are in agreement here, this shit is a fucking awful idea.

I remember when Andrew Yang and his Yanggang or whatever were trying to push that idea of universal basic income or whatever and the narrative was that if people were given enough, a minimum where they didnt have to work, it would free them to engage in other pursuits that would benefit the economy....it was the most fucking retarded thing I ever heard in my life....you give ppl the minimum and the vast majority will lay their fucking ass at home and do sweet fuck all.

We have enough empirical evidence to show it!

 It might have something to do with the way you look at kids B.

I'm torn on the free money thing seeing how some people just don't have a net with plenty needing it.

Plenty don't and take advantage of it too.

When I was heavy into LinkedIn from 2016-2018 and was posting there a lot and making new connections, etc., the Universal Basic Income wonks were trying to make it seem like this was the greatest thing ever. There was article after article about how great it was going to be and it's like they keep beating people over the head with it until the people are in lock-step with it. I NEVER thought it was a good idea and to me, it is antithetical to what America stands for or, what America SHOULD stand for. And while Yang jumped on the bandwagon, it was really a guy named Sam Altman out of Silicon Valley who really got the ball rolling with all of this crap--at least in recent times.

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/ ... combinator

And you're exactly right...it is, in fact, the most retarded thing I have ever heard in my life. It basically makes people dependent on the "State". And I am just the opposite of that--I want the government out of my life as much as possible but at this point, I am living on a prayer.

Also, since we live in different countries, you are probably not up-to-speed necessarily on some of our 'finer' numbers of poverty and people out of work, etc. So, I just wanted to share that with you real quick.

Last time I checked, we have around 10 million American collecting disability. That is just straight disability...not social security benefits. So, there are 10 million or so Americans who are getting a check from the gov't because they "allegedly" can no longer work or for some other reason. It's a gigantic racket and has been for decades.

In 2021, 65 million Americans are collecting a monthly social security check--which is mind boggling. And that number is only going to go up because we have around 70 million baby boomers and all of them will be 65 or older by 2030.

In 2020, around three million Americans were receiving TANF--which is monthly CASH payments that are uploaded onto a debit card and they can take cash out and spend it on whatever. You have to have children to qualify for this program. This number will continue to go up.

There are over 44 million Americans getting food stamp benefits to the tune of around $90 billion dollars/year.

And all of this was BEFORE Covid!!!

A recent article in Forbes suggested that America's debt will reach around $90 TRILLION by 2029...which is three times our current debt.

All that free money is just made up man.
Banks and millionaires with ideas get it all the time.

And its not the handouts to poor and middle-class people that smash us into deft.
The whole thing is made up based on debt.

Now, I'm not saying it's a good idea. I'm just saying.
If anything, those handouts/free money should be given to people to do something.
I dunno....community service...pick up trash...anything.
But I wholeheartedly agree free money shouldn't just get thrown out there.
Included to banks, investors, and those with millions who take no-interest loans.
No-interest loans are a thing or the rich.
THe Fed gives them and doesn't have to show the books/accounts

Well V thats why i said my methods would seem draconian..because ya im make them work for it, definitely wouldnt be free. The "work house" but you bring up the idea of doing that and lilly livered liberals blow a fuse about you are trying to get slave wage labor out of ppl who are less fortunate. But those same ppl would prefer a system with actual broke homeless ppl and shrug their shoulders to that.
