Alright...i thought about it for a while because there's a lot of them that are pretty game good.
But my shit ain't for everybody.

PS4----
Ghost Recon Wildlands...ghost mode...extreme...no hud...multiplayer with a good milsim team is best.
Dark Souls/Demon Souls...they are damn hard ass unforgiving games.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey...Origins is good too but combat not as refined. Playing on nightmare only.
Assassin Creed games have a bomb ass story.
Witcher 3 is solid.

I didn't include much old school stuff because the new stuff is deeper.
There is some shit out there almost too deep.
I played a lot of Warframe but its a mess now.
Destiny Raids were killer fun but the grind got stupid.\
I tried to play Last of Us but got bored when the game changed all of a sudden. I keep dying in 1 spot but I probably had the difficulty too fucking high...i dunno. But the story was good.
Monster Hunter was good playing with my daughter but once I figure out the grind I got bored.
Still got other games a haven't really dug into but I think are good for what they are.

I like open-world games and don't think developers haven't quite done the job they will do eventually because it's mostly untapped and bugs develop. They try to monetize the fuck out of them too. They will eventually make these things living universes.

Played the FarCry games and they are Ok..Some brilliant spots but they lose their long term potential just trying to pump out another game to sell.

The Division games are very good to and a steal.
I like Ubisoft games. The downside is they push the edge but sometimes release some buggy shit. They eventually fix it as it looks they are going to the Live Service end of the spectrum constantly updating an changing it.

The Show 19 is the best sports game I've played just because it's solid and feels real all around unlike Madden.

I think it depends on what game we are talking about.
Some of these new games are so fucking big you can bang on it for 1000+ hrs.
They are a whole world constantly changing.
Starting with Demon Souls and then Dark Souls is a series of games that are extremely hard.
There are some games that simply are casual and after 100+ hrs the game becomes something else.
The mechanics and crafting get deep. I'm a little torn about the grinding aspects. I understand it but fuck is it time-consuming. Character building can be done simply, but to make the best takes some brainpower, planning, in-game research. I try not to youtube answers to problems or puzzles.

I think one of the best genres coming down the pike are the survival games. They haven't quite got it right yet, but I'm sure they will. The Forest, DayZ, Rust, Exiles, Ark are some of them noting these have a good multiplayer element. Some are brutal and unforgiving and dead means dead. you lose your shit. Upcoming games are Deadside, Dead Matter, Dying Light 2.

V. I've played todays hard games.

They dont hold a candle to NES class games.

Ninja gaidens last level had like 3 fucking bosses, and the last stage alone was impossible as fuck and long as fuck. In a 6-1, 6-2, 6-3 kind of format. When you lost to any of those bosses, they sent you the fuck back to 6-1.

NOt sure we are talking about the same games still but I get what you are saying.
NES game mechanics are just very different.

Speaking of boss fights...i've banged on some RAiDs for 12 straight hours with a group of 4 failing time and time again. And it was the 1st boss...3 more still remained. To get it each one required recon, intelligence gathering travels, puzzle-solving, and everyone playing with a mic or there was no chance of success not to mention playing with a full team of international players who might not understand English so well...lol.. During some of these RAID fights, it required 1 player to assume the role of a commander type to call out instructions of a map he was reading. The other 3 had specific time-sensitive tasks that if 1 failed we all died. The missions also required character builds with equipment to help and not all had to right stuff. While the map reader called out instructions like Waterway2, top3, wifi 2 everyone triggered and fought to get there and then had to go back to a rally point to damage boss only for everyone to go back and wait for the commander to call out next set of instructions while the clock was ticking and drones were descending upon you. It really was and is a blast. It's a whole different mindset of play. The level of coordination was next level and I'd guess fail rate was over 99%. I good group of experienced players having played together---which was key---had a better chance. These RAID for completion were time-sensitive too and reset every week at a specified time. Its some tough stuff. Players sometimes were Kilometers apart communicating and coordinating. Loot drops for success were pretty cool.

THe Show 20...I'm thinking of pulling the trigger.
The Show 19 was addictive and a solid game. It felt like baseball.
MEchanics were hard as nails tough.
Its 23.99 for another 3 hours I think from the ridiculous 60 base game.

Aren't we supposed to be getting another NFL game, a competitor to Madden?

That's the word. Take 2 interactive I think. They put out a solid game in the early 2000's. I played it. I was better than Madden. But Madden is still going to be the only NFL sim game. The deal with the NFL is complicated though. I don't think they can use likenesses or other NFL license rights. I might be mistaken. Non simulated football like NBA Playgrounds 2.

Age of Empires. Bet it’s at least 15 years old, but, I’ll play once in a blue moon.

My son plays the Maddens and Call to Duty I believe they are called. The war ones look cool and tried to play. I was just too damn impatient to learn the buttons. I’ll go out and shoot a real gun lol.

I liked Age of Empires, real time strategy games! It was a more relaxed version Starcraft.

Maybe Covid slowed the game industry down too? I'd definitely give a new football game a chance. Madden has run its fucking course. You gonna get any of the next gen consoles?

Im currently playing some game I bought for my daughter. I hated the fuck out of it at first. Frustrated as fuck I got with the movement and mechanics thinking like the Dark Soul franchise had me in the elite mindset. Nope. i played it and put it down. I picked it back up about 2 months ago and now I can't put it down.

Monster Hunter. :kopfpatsch:

There is some complex mastery in the game and its subtle at first. Then I finally got it. Damn good game for blowing time. I bought the expansion Iceborne too...huh for her.

14 different weapon I all hated at first. Now I understand about all but 2. TO be good its simply practice, trial and error, and experimentation. Armor, perk slots, upgrades, kit builds, etc. Never would have thought I'd get into such a thing.

ARK is next of my drive. Slow ass survival games grinding out a living and unforgiving. I patience isn't up to it most days.

so yesterday i dusted off my old 40 inch and put that bitch on the living room table and pushed the table up against the wall. i got that itch again.

so i start a season on NES Super Tecmo Bowl. but the save function doesn't work anymore. so i had the Wii on all day, and compiled an 11-0-1 record with Detroit. left it on throughout the night. then my groggy ass woke up this morning, noticed the green light on the Wii, and instinctively decided to turn it off.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! :idiot:
