Jay and Nas is a perfect example. On pure lyricism, Nas is better than Jay. But Jay is a better song writer. Jay songs just gonna sound better front to back, and I say that as someone who has and will always rep Nas over Jay. Does that mean Jay will always make a better song? No. It just means that Nas generally has to rap his muthafuckin ass off in a song to compare or surpass Jay on a track, meanwhile Jay can get away with not bring the most bars because he finna come make that shit a hot song despite the level of the bars.
But every now and then Nas get a producer or beat maker you just know how to make use of his bars and style and that shit can sound like magic.
Some of yall think this shit is blasphemy but King level bars delivered on a garbage can lid aint it it to me...that makes forgettable music. Hence the Canibus reference because he was all bars and more times than not on a garbage can lid.
All that, Nas still a fuckin ATG, so relax, your rap idols can be criticized too.

I like it a bit more now that I've listed to it a few times.
It's weird...in some of the songs he's kind of rapping like his old self like on the song Death Row. I just don't like how he has changed up his cadence and delivery on some of the songs. I wish every song sounded like the Death Row song.

All objective and the best type of dialog is to have when you're drunk. That EPMD joint with Em just hits the spot man, and Ems verse is my least favorite of all of the verses, even with EPMD not even going 16 bars barely.
