He was very rarely in my Top 10, if ever.

This is Paulie's career:

Two Title shots at 140 pounds before he ever beat a Top 10 ranked fighter there. Beats his first Top 10 fighter (!) for a vacant title, and that fighter is Lovemore Ndou. Not to mention, that shouldn't have been a vacant title in the first place (it was Ricky Hatton's who never lost). But Paulie has a belt, and good for him, so it's time time to defend it. And he does twice. And both fights are gifts. So he's beaten two top ten fighters, one of them twice, and could be 1-2 in those three fights.

He tries to unify his bullshit belt against Ricky Hatton, the rightful owner, but he loses nine of ten rounds to him before getting stopped. He doesn't come close to winning a round after the first.

Paulie bounces back with two fights against Juan Diaz, who wasn't a ranked 140 pounder, or even a 140 pounder at all, and he was coming off a brutal KO loss, but he was still pretty good, and this was by far Malignaggi's greatest wins. Good for Paulie.

Gets embarrassed by Amir Khan. People claim Paulie is shot afterwards.

Moves up to 147, beats two non Top 10 fighters there, because that's what Paulie does.

Beats a paper champion European, who only had the title because Shane Mosley vacated it after shit kicking Antonio Margarito for the WBA belt. This is Paulie's second belt, and once again, he wins it against a guy who was in the lower half of the Top 10, and at a deep 147, may have been out of it completely. But it's a belt, and Paulie defends it.

First defense, he gets a gift against Pablo Cesar Cano, and gets booed out of the building. In Brooklyn.

Second defense, he loses. The guy he loses to immediately gets his ass kicked by a solid, but far from spectacular, Marcos Madiana.

Paulie bounces back and beats a (probably) shot Zab Judah.

Paulie gets embarrassed and knocked out Shawn Porter.

Ranked 140 pound fighters Paulie beat: Lovemore Ndou and Herman Ngodujo

Ranked 147 pound fighters Paulie beat: Vyacheslav Senchenko, Zab Judah

Possibly ranked fighters: Juan Diaz and Pablo Cesar Cano

Fighters beaten for Championships: Senchenko and Ndou

One of the most fraudulent careers of all time.

Paulie was talking about getting into the HOF before this . I'm so glad Porter did him like that. It was hilarious start to finish. And then after the fight he talks about how he wants Porter to be great so it doesn't make him look bad, which is basically how Paulie has to gauge his career considering how few quality wins he has. He's so desperate for some type of legacy he in no way deserves.

I still give Paulie a lot of credit for carving out as much of a career as he did considering his limitations.

I remember him coming out of the Golden Gloves and turning pro. Many writers who cover the glove events were saying he will never be a world champ, didn't have what it takes to last in the sport, his lack of power will prevent him from achieving success. Guess he proved those writers wrong.

Nobody would say anything bad about Paulie if there wasn't an irrational amount of people saying great things about him. Too many have concluded that because he can't crack an egg and still manages to beat decent fighters and be competitive with a few good ones, he somehow has this great boxing acumen/skill set, which is completely false. Just look at the way he had no answer for Porter's leaping left hooks. He couldn't even begin to put his hands up or move his head. Ironically, Paulie's best asset (behind an active jab) is his ability to take a punch/sustained beating.
